Enterprise Class performance and scalability

The EqualLogic PS6510 Series is a line of enterprise-class storage arrays that delivers exceptional self-optimizing performance, virtualized server integration, integrated data protection for key business applications, consolidated management, and deployment flexibility without compromising data availability.

The PS6510 series has several unique features. First, it is a 4u unit (the traditional ps6000 is 3u) but the drives load from the top. Keep that in mind when planning your rack space!

The same network interface and controller setup exists regardless of the drive types. The following picture shows the dual hot controllers (orange), each with (2) 10 GbE connections and a serial management port. Also note the triple power supplies and fans.

The drive types dictate the model number “suffix”, everything else remains equal. Here are the model suffixes and their associated drive types:

PS6000 “E” – SATA drives
PS6000 “X” – 10K RPM SAS drives
